Last days in Tokyo

View Round the world 2023-2024 on TheBBfamily's travel map.

Sadly all good things must come to an end. Following two days at Universal Studios we travelled on the Shinkansen to Tokyo. As always a pleasant and reliably on time experience. Tokyo was a little rainy, so we stayed close to the hotel for a little shopping and dinner. Dinner was a sampling of the ramen noodle competition - udon. Mr 10 felt it was ok but not really a challenger for best noodle dish, which very clearly remained ramen in his opinion.

Our very last day was a combination of a little sightseeing, a final ramen dish in a very authenic noodle bar amongst the Tokyo workers on their lunchbreak, and a little more shopping.

Leaving Japan made us all very sad, but luckily we have a few days in Bali to recover before returning to the real world. Japan was everything we had hoped and more, with Mr 10’s choice of destination a winner with all of us. Travelling around Japan was much easier than we expected, despite our sad lack of Japanese. We will certainly be back again, and would hope next time to get off the main island, perhaps see a bit more of rural Japan up close and not just through the window of a train.
